My Imaginary World

I first created myself an imaginary world at a rather young age, perhaps around 4 or 5. I have always been a lonely person and, in those times where I disliked this fact, I needed some company. Being shy and totally lacking social skills, creating myself an imaginary world is the way I found to cope with my need of social interactions.

I always had complete control over this world, adding people as I wish, making them do what I want. It has become more and more complicated, as more "characters" got added, and as relationships evolved. This page is an attempt at explaining this world the best I can.

Please note that my world changes from day to day, and may even change within a couple of hours, so the word "often" is quite applicable to a lot of situations. I easily go from one story arc to another, even when one of these arcs makes the other ones impossible or very unlikely.

The Earlier Years

Earlier in my life, my world was pretty different from the real one. I often possessed magical power and / or special abilities of all kinds. One of the powers I had the most often was telekinesis.

If I remember well, I had some form of "title", like Queen of Whatever, except it certainly wasn't "of whatever". Anyway, everyone used to bow down to my almighty powers.

I don't believe I was really unique for having one such world where I loved to play. I think everyone had some kind of mental refuge, it's just that some people also acted it. I do not believe this is a sign of serious insanity or worrisome for parents.

A New Father

I do not remember my relationship with my biological father being bad when I was young. Of course, once in a while, I would do things he didn't like. I believe every person out there has done something, as a kid, that has been disliked by either one of his/her parents, if not both. I was however not a troublesome child. Actually, the very old memories I have of my father are rather positive and mostly consist of his taking me to the arena where he worked back in the early 1990s. I assume he would have been angry if he had learned of my Barbies, but it didn't happen. He did not disapprove of Barbie dolls and knew well that I owned several of them and loved playing with them. However, I had very little Ken dolls in my possession, I have only ever owned two at a time at most. Having always been a desperate romantic, I still had to somehow create couples. So many of my Barbie dolls became lesbian. I still dream about it at times.

Barbie dolls are actually on topic. When I played with them, I created all sorts of stories. Most of them were pitches. I do not know how old I was when I create a director that would be the creator of all of these stories—in my imaginary world, of course. His name was Stephen Van der Grinten. He was a real genius, winner of several awards—many of which I created myself—and creator of several successful movies.

Even less known to me than the date of his appearance in my world is the date at which I decided I would be his daughter. I was most certainly below the age of 10, but above the age of 6. I was probably already able to write, which means I would write down an endless amount of pitches on the back of already used sheets. My mother having been a teacher up to 2006, we always ended up with a large amount of unused school sheets which became the bearers of my creative thoughts.

The fact remains that he did indeed become my "father". Rich beyond bonds, famous, ingenious and creative, he bore several major differences with my real life father. This one is indeed a good writer, with a good style, and has a wonderful memory of events. He however has never been either rich or famous. I have yet to hear of a famous lumberjack.

And more people

Several characters have inhabited my imaginary words. Many have remained through times, but there are some that have strongly evolved. I believe that at least some of them simply reflect different parts of my own personality and/or thoughts, as though pretending these were the thoughts of other people would make them less mine.

Gemma

This girl's name and her original personality was directly taken from a TV show I used to watch and love a lot. I actually spent over 25 minutes looking for the show on IMDB but the memory of it is so vague that I can't recollect enough information for a satisfactory search. Then, for some odd reason, I decided to search for The Girl From Tomorrow, a show I also watched as a kid. And guess what! People on the message board were mentioning Mission Top Secret which happens to be the show from which I got Gemma. Imagine my disappointment to realize she spells her name with a J (Jemma). This however explains why I couldn't find her.

At first, I guess she had been nice—the character was on the "good side" in the show—but she has evolved a lot. She now hates me and spends most of her time making fun of me or bitching me.

Dave Chevalier

Chevalier means knight.

Dave first arrived sometime during my high school years. He is tall, handsome, brown haired and green eyed. He has always been a very good friend of mine, probably the closest one. He is always jealous of whomever I love in "real" life, but we still remain very close—and are romantically involved at times.

He is however rather confused about his orientation and will often, err, do things with my brother (Olaus, that is).

Olaus

Olaus is my brother. He is a rather recent character, probably from around the time Dave appeared. He is the son of Stephen, of course.

He is gay. He likes me a lot—in a brotherly love way. He however is in love with Dave.

Véronique

I think Véronique has evolved from Gemma, becoming her own character at some point. Being a very jealous person, I had to send Dave with someone else at some point. This person was Véronique.
