Accessibility Statement
Please not that I have decided not to use accessibility keys by fear of overwriting functions in certain browsers.
Standards Compliance
- All the pages on this site should validate as XHTML 1.1 Any error might be reported to me.
- The stylesheet is valid CSS 2.0
- Semantic markup is used to create the pages.
<h1>is used for main titles,<h2>for subtitles,<h3>for sub-subtitles and, much more rarely,<h4>for sub-sub-subtitles.
Navigation Aids
- All pages link back to the index (home page)
- Navigation—links to main sections— is found on every page
- The site map gives links to every page of the site
Links
- Unless the text forming the link is fully descriptive, links have the
titleattribute to provide further information. - External links are followed by the symbol
, except on pages that clearly link to other websites, such as "Daily Visits &
Other Admired People". For people whose browser does not support CSS, such links are also marked by the words "external link"
at the beginning of the title attribute. - Links were thought of so that they make sense out of context. For example, there should be no link labelled "here" or "click here".
Images
- Non-decorative images have descriptive
altattributes. - When the
altattribute is not enough to fully describe the image, a longer text description is provided along with the image. - Decorative images, which are kept to a minimum, are set as CSS backgrounds or contain an empty alt attribute.
Visual Rendering
- The visual style of the layout is entirely controlled by cascading style sheets (CSS).
- When CSS is disabled, the website is still visible and accessible.
- All fonts are defined by relative values—percentages—to preserve the user's ability to resize text.
Final Notes
In spite of all of my efforts in making this site as accessible as possible, the fact remains that I can only test on iMac in Firefox and on Windows XP in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera. Should you encounter any problem, you are more than welcome to contact me by email or through the guestbook.
Some posts found through the archives might not fully respect some of the statements above.
